Brooklyn-based artist Steve Keene, recognized as the world’s most prolific artist with well over 300.000 paintings, gained early fame in the 1990s for his album covers for bands like Pavement, Silver Jews, and The Apples in Stereo.

 

His colorful, vibrant paintings made with house paint on plywood have become fixtures in homes all over the world.

 

For over 30 years, Keene has maintained an art experiment centered around creating a massive volume of affordable works, up until recently selling 6 paintings on wood for $70 and personally curating each order.

 

His painting performances at music festivals and galleries have captivated audiences, who watch his process of reprition as he creates upwards of 50 pieces at once. Much akin to playing multiple games of chess at one time, Keene’s art is not simply the paintings, but the process.
